2017 Play for P.I.N.K. Tournament

The Annual EWGA DC Play for P.I.N.K (PfP) Tournament is open for registration.  “P.I.N.K.” stands for Prevention, Immediate Diagnosis, New Technology, and Knowledge and was started in 1990 by a group of women who were saddened when one of their friends was diagnosed with breast cancer.  The news galvanized them to do something for her, for themselves, and for all women and men affected by the disease.  One suggested a golf tournament with all proceeds going to breast cancer research.  Today the program has grown to nearly 300 participating golf clubs across 29 states with an estimated 30,000 annual participants.  EWGA DC is one of the participating organizations and this year we hope to surpass the donation of $1400 made last year to this noteworthy cause.

The EWGA DC PfP Tournament will be held at the Country Club of Woodmore in Mitchellville, MD.  The format for the tournament is a four-person 2 best ball net score.  Each player will need to submit a handicap, or average 18-round golf score.  Each person will play their own ball but the best two net scores of the foursome will be recorded on the scorecard for the overall team score.  At the end of the round, scorecards will be collected and the golf course will tally all scores and determine the overall winner.  Awards will be provided to the top three teams.

The cost is $105 and includes golf, practice balls, golf cart, and dinner.  All will tee off at 1200 Noon with a shotgun start.  There will be various “hole in one” opportunities to win great prizes ( e.g., a new car, a $1,000 shopping free, etc.).  There will also be “closest to the pin” contests on the front and back nine.  After the round of golf, a buffet meal with dessert will be served to all participants; a cash bar will also be available.

Come early to participate in the putting/chipping contest, bid on various silent auction items, or fill out a “Pink Note Card” in memory of a loved one that will be displayed on the Memory  Board in the Woodmore room where the dinner will be held.  There will also be a 50/50 raffle and a regular raffle on various golf-related items.  Lots of opportunities for participants to leave with a gift in hand!

If you are unable to play in the annual EWGA DC golf fundraising tournament, don’t worry because you can still contribute to the Chapter’s fundraising efforts by considering the following options:

1.  Sponsor a Hole at the annual golf tournament.  The price is $125 and includes the donor’s name, company’s name/logo, a short message, and 5 tickets to the 50/50 tournament raffle (if present at the tournament).  Contact  Kim Litherland (kimlith@hotmail.com) directly to sponsor a hole.

2.  Provide a one time cash donation.  EWGA DC will accept your donation to PfP and count it towards our annual goal amount.  The minimum donation is $25.  There is no maximum limit.  We request contact information so a “thank you” can be sent on behalf of EWGADC and PfP.  Click here to make a one time donation.
